IAU 的标准基本天文程序库SOFA 给出Fortran 版和C 版两个基本天文运算的库函数，最新版SOFA 补充了IAU 在2006 年公布的岁差模型。SOFA 由两部分组成：天文库和矢量、矩阵运算库。其中前者有109 个子程序，可以进行天文历法计算、时间计算、星历表计算、岁差章动计算、恒星空间运动计算和主要星表系统的转换，后者有52 个子程序，功能则是矢量和矩阵的各种操作，当然其中包括了球面坐标系统的变换-IAU standard basic astronomical library SOFA Fortran and C version gives two basic astronomical arithmetic library functions, the latest version of the SOFA supplement published in 2006 IAU precession model.
