Within a subsea control system various industrial Ethernet protocols are implemented for process data exchange on the link between topside & subsea. Also, different types of instrumentation networks are used to collect data from sensors & intelligent devices at the seabed. In this
project different protocols & networks shall be evaluated based on criterion from OneSubsea
Processing. As a minimum the following protocols shall be evaluated: Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP,
and OPC UA for topside - subsea communication. CAN bus (SIIS level II) and IWIS (API 17F)
shall be evaluated for collecting sensor & actuator data to the SCM. The project shall also consist of a practical implementation of industrial protocols.
