This paper deals with the modeling of the statistical distribution of the effective gain of terminals. This incorporates
both the characteristics of the antenna’s radiation pattern in the situation of use, and the characteristics of the local
propagation environment. A frequency-wise and frequency-correlated log-normally-distributed effective-gain model is
proposed as a standard model of wide – although not universal – validity. This is done mainly for the sake of simplicity
and ease of use. This model is tested in a few exemplary cases of measured and simulated terminals, using a subset
of the WINNER channel model for the local propagation.,This paper deals with the modeling of the statistical distribution of the effective gain of terminals. This incorporates
