GPRS是通用分组无线业务，是在现有的GSM系统上发展出来的一种新的分组数据承载业务。可以为用户提供手机上网，手打短信，移动办公，网上游戏，资源共享的丰富功能，本实验课题利用WINCE5.0操作系统和MagicARM2410试验箱，通过插入SIM卡，来实现短信息的收发功能。
本实验课题的硬件为一台装有WindowsXP操作系统的电脑以及装有WINCE操作系统的MagicARM2410试验箱。MagicARM2410教学实验开发平台是一款可使用WINCE和Linux操作系统，支持QT，SIM卡，MiniGUI图形系统，集众多功能于一身的ARM教学实验开发平台。采用Samsung公司的ARM920T内核的S3C2410A微处理器，是嵌入式系统创新实验首选平台。微软WINCE操作系统被设计成针对小型设备的通用操作系统，是嵌入式，移动计算平台的基础，适用于嵌入式系统的安装与应用。
